Medieval Town Blessed with Abundant Springs
Shibushi Fumoto was a strategically important area located on the north eastern border of the Satsuma domain. The samurai houses in Shibushi are located along the curve of a valley between medieval mountain fortresses, making the layout quite different to other Fumoto in Kagoshima. Underground springs located where each of the fortresses were located provide an abundance of fresh water to the town, and the gates and gardens hewn from natural bedrock give the town a uniquely historical feeling.
