Former Kiire Fumot

Discover the Original Landscape of a Fumoto

In 1650, just after the start of the Edo period, the Fumoto at Kiire was relocated under the orders of the Shimadzu clan. Over the next 250 years until the end of the Edo period the layout of other the region slowly changed, but it is still possible to see remains of the original setting from 1650. Ancient stone walls and waterways hem the narrow streets that curve around the base of medieval mountain forts and the rural landscape, makes it easy to imagine life here over 400 years ago.
